VoterVoice Post

Make your vote count: act now

July 11, 2023 by Jeff Caruso

Register to vote today to make your voice heard in November

On November 7, voters will elect Virginia General Assembly candidates – and in some areas – “down-ballot” offices. All 100 seats in the House of Delegates and all 40 seats in the Senate are up for election. Practicing faithful citizenship means taking an active role in public life through our voice and our vote.

If you will be 18 or older on November 7, we encourage you to register to vote, or update your data. Please see below for important deadlines for registration/updates and to request an absentee ballot.

To VOTE on Tuesday, November 7, 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (General Election)

Can’t make it on Election Day?

  • Request Absentee Ballot online, by mail, email, or fax by: 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023.
  • Request Absentee Ballot by appearing in person at your local registrar’s office by: 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023.
  • In-person early voting at your local registrar’s office begins on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023 and ends on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. This includes weekdays during that period and the last two Saturdays (Oct. 28 and Nov. 4).
  • Be sure to check your local registrar’s website for more details.

We will provide voter education resources – including information on how to find your new district numbers and the candidates in your local races – in the coming months. In the meantime, please share this information about voter registration, early voting, and absentee ballots with your family members and friends now, so they will be prepared to participate in these important elections.

As a reminder from an alert we sent recently, we also encourage parishes to conduct voter registration drives using our voter registration resource
