Virginia General Assembly Update – Week 1
Virginia General Assembly Update – Week 1
The 2025 General Assembly session officially began this Wednesday, January 8. However, after gaveling in to fulfill the constitutional requirement that the regular session must begin on the second Wednesday in January each year, the House and Senate adjourned until Monday, January 13, due to the water situation in Richmond. When legislators return on Monday, they will begin addressing bills at a very fast pace.
Constitutional amendments: Early action is anticipated on the proposed constitutional amendments on abortion, marriage, and voting rights. Please click here and act now on our alerts on these measures if you have not already done so!
Virginia Pro-Life Day: Virginia Pro-Life Day is right around the corner! Register today to join pro-life advocates from around the commonwealth in Richmond on January 29. Meet with your legislators to advocate against dangerous bills that expand abortion and for policies that affirm the life and dignity of every mother and every child. With majorities in both the Senate and the House poised to pass extreme abortion legislation, it is vital that pro-lifers show up in large numbers.
After your meetings with legislators, a Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Knestout and Bishop Burbidge for all in attendance.
