October 21, 2026 by Jeff Caruso

Register to vote today to make your voice heard on Nov. 3

Now through November 3, Virginians who have not voted already have the opportunity to vote on proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution, candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, and – in some areas – “down-ballot” offices. Faithful citizenship reminds us to take an active part in public life through our voice and our vote.

If you will be 18 or older on November 3, we encourage you to register to vote, or update your data today. Please see below for important deadlines for registration/updates and to request an absentee ballot.

To VOTE on Tuesday, November 3, 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (General Election)

Register/Update Address by Friday, Oct. 23, 2026.

You are encouraged to VOTE EARLY!

  • Request Absentee Ballot online, by mail, email, or fax by: 5:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. (Return a completed and signed request form to your local registrar's office by mail, fax, or scanned attachment to an email.)
  • In-person early voting at your local registrar’s office began on Friday, September 18 and ends on Saturday, October 31.
  • This includes weekdays during that period, the last two Saturdays (Oct. 24 and 31), and Sunday, Oct. 25.  Be sure to check your local registrar’s website for more details.
  • See who is on your ballot by viewing the candidate lists.

Please share this information about voter registration, early voting and absentee ballots with your family members and friends now, so they will be prepared to participate in these important elections. In particular, please also let them know how critically important this election season is, due to ballot questions with grave and far-reaching consequences. Encourage them to visit vacatholic.org to learn more.
