Statement on Installation of new Bishop of Richmond

His Excellency, Bishop Barry C. Knestout

Today the Virginia Catholic Conference greets with joy His Excellency, Bishop Barry C. Knestout, who was installed in a special Mass today as the 13th shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.

Bishop Knestout joins Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of Arlington in leading the Virginia Catholic Conference.

“Since Pope Francis appointed then-Bishop-Designate Knestout on Dec. 5, I have had several conversations already with His Excellency about our preparations for the 2018 General Assembly session, and I am so grateful for his keen insights and guidance.  It is a privilege for my staff and me to be guided and led by Bishop Knestout and Bishop Burbidge, and we look forward to carrying out their goals and vision for serving the common good in the public square,” said Executive Director Jeff Caruso.
