Learn more about the 3 proposed constitutional amendments

June 2, 2026 by Jeff Caruso

Abortion, marriage and voting rights are all on the ballot this fall!

On the Nov. 3 ballot – with early voting starting Sept. 18 – Virginia voters will decide three referendum questions:

  • Whether to enshrine a virtually unlimited “fundamental right” to abortion in the state constitution;

  • Whether to remove the definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman from the state constitution; and

  • Whether to amend the state constitution to restore voting rights to all people who have completed their prison sentences.

Our Stop the Extreme Abortion Amendment webpage provides key resources in the fight against the abortion ballot question.

Our Constitutional Amendments webpage provides information on all three issues.

We are strongly and fundamentally opposed to the extreme and radical abortion amendment and the marriage redefinition amendment. We support the amendment to restore voting rights.

Please view and share these materials. We will offer additional resources in the coming weeks and months. If you have feedback on what content and materials would be the most helpful to you and your parish, we would welcome your input.
