Save the date for Virginia Vespers 2019

August 27, 2018 by Jeff Caruso

Join us at fourth annual Virginia Vespers to offer prayers for the Commonwealth

Please mark your calendars now for Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, as the Virginia Catholic Conference once again presents a special opportunity to come together with Catholic bishops, priests, parishioners, people of all faiths, educators, social service providers and public officials to pray for the needs of Virginia.

On that February date, near the midpoint of the 2019 Virginia General Assembly session, Virginia’s Catholic bishops and the Virginia Catholic Conference will host the fourth annual Virginia Vespers: Evening Prayer for the Commonwealth at the beautiful historic Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond. The liturgy begins at 5 p.m. Bishop Knestout will lead the prayer service and Bishop Burbidge will give the homily. A reception follows and all are invited!

Vespers or Evening Prayer is a prayer of thanksgiving and part of the Liturgy of the Hours, used by the Church for millennia to sanctify the hours of the day through praise of God and prayers for the needs of the world. Stay tuned for registration information and additional details about this rich and moving evening, and about opportunities to visit your legislators’ offices earlier that day.

In prayer and in public, your voices are urgently needed to bring Gospel values to bear on vital decisions being made by those who represent you.
The Virginia Catholic Conference is the public policy agency representing Virginia’s Catholic bishops and their two dioceses.
